Bonner taught me how to fly fish in 2022 on the banks of the San Marcos River. Thirty mins later he put me on my first Guadalupe Bass, and actually first bass ever on the fly!

I consider Bonner my fly fishing mentor and a great friend. He’s a 10/10 Guide. Redfish or Bass, salt water or fresh, he’s your guy. Get on his books if you can!

I had the privilege of fishing with Bonner on the San Marcos river shortly after moving to Austin. I enjoyed the experience so much that once I knew he guided in South Texas where I grew up, we immediately booked with him the next Fall to go chase reds on the coast. I was super new to fly fishing and I learned so much getting to spend a couple of mornings on the water with him! He's a great hang, good on comms, an awesome and patient guide, and the dude gets you to the fish! Couldn't recommend him enough and only look forward to future opportunities to fish with him. First time I touched a fly rod was on the Guad with Bonner. It was such great experience that I went and bought a fly rod and have been hooked since. He is professional and laid back at the same time. His goal seemed to be to create an enjoyable experience for my buddy and I. I have fished with Bonner again since then and the trip was the same, we caught fish and had a great time. We have stayed in touch for the last several years. It’s not often you run across a genuinely good person, Bonner is that. I am glad to consider him a friend. Go fish with him!

I fished with Bonner and once again had a great time. His communication was great from the start. We discussed river option pros/cons and dates and he was even able to make lodging recommendations. He also coaches well on technique. I’ll be fishing with him again!

Before my trip with Bonner, I was really struggling to target river bass on the fly. Not only did he put us on a ton, but he explained the why and how. All while being a pleasure to be on the boat with. He also helped me appreciate everything the river has to offer beyond the fishing. I can’t recommend him enough. Especially if you want to leave the trip a better angler.
